Frontpage 2003 Freezes on Open

I 've been using Frontpage 2003 on a Windows XP SP2 computer in my
office for about 2 years. Shortly after installing a trial version of
Expressions Web, Frontpage freezes each time I open it. I've deleted
the Expressions Web trial software. I've also manually deleted FP
temp and *.web files as was suggested in a post to this group by
SBR@ENJOY on Sept 8, 2004.

I've also used FP Cleaner and that utility didn't solve the probem. I
received an error message saying that the program could not find the
directory that contains *.web files when attempting to clear the
hidded cache files.

Also numerous attempts to remove and re-install the Frontpage software
as well as attempts to repair the software using Windows Control panel
- Add/Remove Programs doesn't resolve the issue.

I have used the original CD that contains the software to install
Frontpage on a new computer at home that is running MS Vista and
Frontpage works on that computer, so the problem may be with the
computer at the office.

Any help is eagerly appreciated.

It seems to me there are some files in the systems causes this error. An
issue like this is pretty hard to fix. The option I recommend you would be
format your pc and reinstall O/S and other software. This doesn’t sound easy,
but that would be better I think.

You also try a System Restore using a date/point prior to installing
the Expressions Web.

Good luck.

Thanks for the two suggestions. I'll try a system restore first
because it will take several hours, if not all day to re-format my
hard drive and re-install all the software, drivers etc.
Alternatively, I may install FP 2003 or Expressions Web on a different
computer at the office and manage my web sites from the new machine
until I can find the time to re-format my pc.
