Frontpage 2003 FTP Problems

O

odyssey

HI! When I try to Publish by clicking on the "Publish Web site" button (
with Local to remote selected) I get the following error.

The FTP session was terminated.

Though on the other hand if I drag the file manually from my local view to
the remote it works.

I have selected in the "remote web site properties" to publish only changed
file.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening.?

At first nothing at all happened when I tried it. but now I turn off Norton
internet security and now I got a message saying " The ULF '_vti_cnf' has
more than 32 directories,"

What does this mean?

Sounds like your FTP server either doesn't support folder levels more than 32, or more likely it doesn't support file names longer
than 32 characters (try shortening your file names)

IMHO
If you must FTP, you are better off w/ a 3rd party FTP client where you can also select not to upload the unnecessary FP meta files

Well. I ended up solving the problem by deleting all the content of the
remote website and then republishing it. although it solved the problem it
might not be the best solution in the future as the site will become must
larger.

why would the FP server not support more than 32 directories? and all of my
files are shorter than 32 characters in length. and I also do not use spaces
between the file names. eg.. the_file_name_may23_2004.htm.

hmmm. I will ask to see what platform the server is running. this will help
to narrow it down.

thanks again to who has responded :)
