Turn off the automatic restart after System failure (you may get a FP crash but not a system restart)
- right click My Computer - Properties - Advanced - System Failure
(turn on write event & send report)
Check your PC (as restored) has all the MS Office, IE and OS SP /patches installed
- go to Office Updates and Windows Update (see 3 & 4 below)
Also verify you have the latest version of directX and video driver for your PC installed
- FP is heavily dependent on IE, and video issues
You may also have a bad memory chip (try finding a memory chip tester)
After each failure make sure you do a cleanup ( 1 & 2 below)
If it persists after a failure:
- look in your temp files for wecerr.txt and FrontPG.log for clues to the error
- on Windows XP check the Event Viewer for errors (right click My Computer - Manage)
- Open FP and Run - Start - All Programs - Microsoft Office - Office Tools - Microsoft Office Application Recovery (look any error
reports before they are sent)
Steps for cleanup and
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
| Nope. We have both checked that. Both computers are virus free. She

| have the same problem.
|
| I really do appreciate all the efforts. I was hoping that someone else here
| would have had a simalar problem and was able to repair it.
