Has anyone tried bought and tried out Frontpage 2003? What features are new
and what has been improved on?

Brian,

I bought and installed the upgrade, and was very disappointed at the lack of
written documentation as well as online documentation at Microsoft.com.
There are a number of important new features -- most notably, the use of DWT
templates as a successor to the old standby of Themes (which are still
available), but you get very little info about DWTs from Microsoft.
Transferring your old themes to the new program is a bit tricky as well.

All that said, it's a good program, and produces cleaner code. It has a
number of modest but useful improvements. Whether they are worth the price
of the upgrade is something only you can decide, but the changes are
significant.

Agree with the previous post - numerous worthy upgrades, the format is much
more like looking at a Word document (it also appears awfully similar to OSX
in design), if you're a coder it uses a split screen so you can code on one
side and see the results on the other, some improvement of shared services,
yes, cleaner code generation, will take some time to adapt from pervious
user interface but does appear more intuitive - oh, and yes, documentation
stinks. I'm waiting for the FP03 Bible to come out. Best of luck.

Hi, If you are disappointed in the lack of documentation in FrontPage 2003,
let me suggest the new book "Special Edition Using Microsoft Office
FrontPage 2003" By Paul Cooligan and Jim Cheshire.

The book is easy to follow and yet it is covering everything in
understandable detail. I waited to get this book that has just been released
because of the way Paul Cooligan treats his newsletter readers - like common
people who want to learn. He has a way of not talking down to you or over
your head. I am loving it, it is bringing back the excitement of discovering
what FrontPage brings to the table in its upgrade.

I also am loving the new FP. No longer do I have to place my curser in a
page and quick jump to code view and hunt it down to check the html. Lots of
fun stuff here.

Good Luck, Deb
PS and no relation at all to Paul hahha just one of the thousands who get
his newsletters.
