Frontpage and webserver

I used to run Frontpage 2002 on a WinMe machine and I had to load
"webserver" before publishing. I now use WinXP and discovered that I can
load from the Internet, modify my site and publish without any webserver
loaded. Why is this?

Some of your terminology is un-clear to me. What do you mean "load
webserver"? For instance, does that mean install a webserver? If so, which
one?

I have run FP2002 on Windows 98, Windows 2000 and WinXP. As long as I was
not using a wizard that requires an active webserver running on the
workstation I have not had to install a webserver. Since WinXP Professional
(like Windows 2000 Professional) by default (I think) installs a developers
version of IIS you may be running into something about your environment
changing. My understanding is: WinME and WinXP Home do not come with any
kind of microsoft webservers. And while it is "barely" possible to trick
WinXP Home into running IIS, it is a big enough headache its less trouble to
revert to Window 2000 Professional or update to XP Professional.

Hope this helps,
