Frontpage components not usable on some PC's

R

Robert Harford

I have a website developed using Frontpage 2002. It contains hover
buttons for page navigation. On most XP computers, the applets seem to
load just fine and the site is usable, but on 2 PC's the applets won't
load, making the site un-navigable.

One of the PC's is running XP home, the other XP Pro. I noticed that
in IE, the Internet Options/Advanced panel has no references
(checkboxes) for Java. Is there something I need to install or
download from Microsoft, or am I totally barking up the wrong tree?

Any ideas?

The machines need Java Virtual Machine
which no longer ships with Microsoft products.

You can download and install it from
www.java.sun.com first link under
Popular downloads.

However, most people have quit using Hover Buttons
for this reason.

Hi Robert,

The Hover buttons use the Java Virtual Machine which is no longer shipped
with Windows. I would strongly recommend that you utilize mouse overs
instead.

Windows XP no longer comes with a Java Virtual Machine.
So, unless uoir visitors have downloaded and installed one
from another source, such as http://www.java.com, they
won't be able to see your Hover Buttons.

The only sure fix for this is to stop using hover buttons.
Replace them with FP2003 Interactive Buttons, or with
ordinary rollovers. Here are some references:
