it is an encrypted and unreadable pwl (password list ) file buried deep in
Windows. If it was readable, that would defeat the whole purpose of having
passwords wouldn't it?
I assume you mean the method of how it retains and "remembers" the password for
certain usernames - that is done via cookies or something internal to frontpage
and/or internet explorer. Your actual logon details are stored on the server
which of course checks the authentication of the details inputed.
If you manage several sites, then you should have a separate account/server space
to upload each site, which in turn requires separate user log on details.
So you open the web, make changes to the pages then publish the site - it prompts
for logon, you enter the details for that site, and make sure you click
"Save/Remember password" (or whatever) and next time you use that logon, the
details will already be there.
Repeat this for all the sites you maintain. otherwise keep a copy of the logon's
on paper somewhere safe.

It's not really a "file" in the file sense of the word.
What exactly are you trying to do??

Hi,
I am managing more and more FrontPage websites. Where is the file that
lists all the User Names and Passwords that are entered into the
Connect to [website.com] login box?
Thanks,
Peter
