Frontpage directorys in web server

W

William Hilsum

Hi

I currently operate a ASP website, I created it entirly
out of notepad, I now have got frontpage 2003, and I
opened the site in it, Now across iis there are sub
folders in every folder e.g. _vti_cnf and _private to
mention a few... there are loads more.

I was wondering if there is any security risks in having
these? As i said, I created the whole site in notepad,
and I am more than capable of continuing, but I prefear
frontpage with the colour coding (makes it so much
easier!) but I am not happy with all of these folders
everywhere.

Thanks

Those folders/files are safe.
They maintain the "inventory" of the content, links, document dependencies,
last edited date and time and so on.

Leave them alone, they are your friends.

You're welcome.
You can right click on one of the files and open it in notepad if you want
to see what they contain.
