FrontPage FTP Error

I

iago

Hi everyone,

After Thomas had assisted me with duplicate files in the FP FTP.

I have come up with another error. As everyone knows when you modify documents in FP and when you go to publish your site using FP FTP the files you modified have a “Green†Check mark meaning that these are the files that have been modified and need to be published. Then after publishing these files the “Green†check mark should go away. But in may case the Green Check mark doesn’t go away and I tried couple of times publishing it and even deleted the file in the server and published it. All that didn’t work.

Anyone has idea of what I need to do in order to resolve this problem.

Best R.

Using a third party FTP program will miss up frontpage extension and that is not adviced by my hosting company and also it mentions in FP manual. What I am looking for is to solve the issue with the FP FTP so that I don't get in trouble.

Please advice if you know how to solve the issue of the FP FTP.

Thanx

If the FP extensions are installed, then you shouldn't be using FTP to publish, instead enter:

http://www.yourdomainname.com, then your login info, then click Ok,

FP uses http to publish when the FP extensions are installed, FTP is only used when publishing to a
server that doesn't have the FP extensions.

Using ANY FTP program will most likely corrupt the FPSE.
You need to decide to use one or the other, not both.
Third party FTP programs are not any easier to use and you would do just as well with the frontpage ftp.
IF you are going to use ftp, then DON'T set up FPSE on your host. You may lose some FPSE specific functionality however.

using Frontpage FTP will also miss the extensions. You need to publish with
HTTP: in frontpage to ensure extension components work.

Is the web set to publish all pages? If so, the green arrows will not go
away - change to Publish changed pages only.

Hi everyone thanks for the help.

I might have not clearly explained my problem. When I said that I use
Frontpage FTP, I meant the HTTP: in forntpage. That is the option in
frontpage under the "File" menu which is called "Publish Web". Well when I
use this function of frontpage usally modified pages in your web would show
with a "Green Mark Check" once the pages have been published the Green Mark
Check are gone. In my case the "Green Mark Check" does go away. So I need
to know how I can fix this problem.

Did you initially do a publish all before switching to the publish changes
pages only?

Ron,

I check at the option selection in the publish setting and it is set to
"Changed Pages Only". So I have it on the correct setting as you have
adviced. But the green arrows are not going away once I publish the
modified pages to the web.
