Frontpage security

The "security" option is grayed out on the "tools"
toolbar. How can I get to it?

You have to have the "Little Orphan Annie"
decoder ring and password.

Seriously, which version of FP, and which toolbar?

I knew I should have drank my ovaltine! Nothing wrong
with a little humor when things are not working right!

I am using FP 2000, and it is under Tools that security
can be found, but grayed out.

Thanks for the article link. The problem seems to have
started after I installed the server extensions on my
local pc. I had published the web successfully to the
server the first time. I had a problem with a feedback
page on my web, and thought that the extensions needed to
be installed on my pc, so I did. After that, I could not
publish the site again without getting the error -

SERVER ERROR: Authoring is disabled for this server. Use
the server Administrator to enable authoring.

This error was misleading as well. I found that I could
publish the web if I first tried to publish a new web with
only an index page, cancel the publishing, and then
publish my original web site. I searched through Microsoft
help and FP and it appeared that a security setting had
somehow been changed, thus the question about the security
option.

Still needing help.

The Security option is only available on server-based
Webs. That is, on Webs that you open by choose Open Web
from the File menu, and then specifying an http://
address.

Even then, the server administrator may not have given
you permission to access those features. The solution in
this case is to contact the server administrator.
