Frontpage Server downed 100 websites because of my site?

My website went down last week, was down for days. My server told me that it
was from editing my site live online. I have done that for years with no
problems. They told me Frontpage server can not handle it, where other
servers can handle live editing. I was told that the code was so messed up
from editing live that it downed 100 other sites that were hosted through my
server with Frontpage.
Questions: Is it true that my editing live would cause this type of choas?
Is there a way to change this problem, other than to stop using Microsoft
Frontpage and go with another web design program?
The code is apparently still terribly messed up, but I needed to have my
site back because of lost revenue. They spent hours trying to fix the code
to no avail. They did get it back up, but not fixed.
How can this problem be fixed?
Thanks so much for your time

No, time to look for another web host.

Is it the host server's problem and not Frontpage extension server? If so I
will have a talk with my server, but must have some firepower when I talk
with them, and believe me...I have no firepower without your help. Seriously
not much time to look for another web host. I have been very happy with this
company for 8 years, but if it is their problem, believe me, I will confront
them with it.
How do I directly contact the Microsoft Frontpage people to talk with them
about this problem, or are you people my main contact for this?

Microsoft has discontinued support for the FP server extensions, so there is
nobody to talk with at MS.

It is their problem, as editing the site live shouldn't cause the server to go down.

What about the messed up code? They blamed editing live causing the code to
mess up and down the FP server.
If Microsoft does no longer supply support for their extension, which is
needed to use Frontpage, what are they thinking?
Don't they want people to use Frontpage anymore?

1. It is really a hosting issue, nothing that you have done. You indicated that the host updated
there control panel application which probable also included the FP extensions, and some was
incorrectly configure or change a configure for the exist sites on the server.

FYI: A FP discussion web and/or guest book can bring a server down if it get stuck in a loop, but
not by a site owner editing the site via FP.

2. The FP extensions from version 2000 and up are really not a requirement to use FP, but does make
manage a web site easier, in my opinion.

Hi,
I was told that the code was so messed up
from editing live that it downed 100 other sites that were hosted through
my
server with Frontpage.

I am not an expert, but I am not sure if I would buy in the hosting
company's story for it will bring down another 100 other sites as well for
the problem of your site regardless of what might be the cause.

If that's the case, you may still wish to switch to another host because if
other sites are down (for whatever reasons), you might be down again. And
for other sites to be hacked, you might be hacked as well.

That's really a potential risk.
They spent hours trying to fix the code
to no avail.

I don't know if any host will fix codes for clients, but I'd like to know if
you could provide their name. Just to learn for personal interests.

Finally, if you must to edit site live online, as I would sometime and I
know it's not very good, you could save the original page to a different
name for editing and test it before saving it to the final one. Once you
are sure it is good, just "rename" the old one to a different name (without
updating links if FP asked you, or all links will be updated to this old
file with a different file name instead of the new file) and rename the new
one to the original file name.

Hope this helps.
