Based on the information you've provided, no.

Are you working on a web on your local machine, or on a remote hosted web
site? What kind of "updates" are you talking about? If you are working on a
hosted site, what is your Connection Speed? How much traffic is on the
remote hosted server? What are its resources (memory, processor, etc)? How
big is your web site in MB? How many pages are in it? Are you using any
FrontPage design-time components, such as Shared Borders, Includes, and
Templates?

Are you working on a web on your local machine, or on a remote hosted web
site? Remotely hosted web server.

What kind of "updates" are you talking about? Any and all updates.

If you are working on a hosted site, what is your Connection Speed? 100 meg
lan connection.

How much traffic is on the remote hosted server? It varies. Problem occurs
with little to no or high traffic

What are its resources (memory, processor, etc)? Dual 550 Ghz Xeon, 1.5
gigabyte ram

How big is your web site in MB? The folder that FrontPage connects to has
99,754 files,and is 5.90gb

Are you using any FrontPage design-time components, such as Shared Borders,
Includes, and Templates? No

Also, I have tried updating and saving in FP 02 on a Windows 2000 machine
and it works fine.

Thanks,

Hi Tech Girl,

Nice job getting the information I asked for!

Other than the size of your site, I don't see any bottlenecks in your
pipeline. Well, one that may exist, is the amount of traffic on the server.
While you certainly did tell me the amount of traffic on your web site, most
hosting companies share servers among a large number of web sites,
proportionate usually to how much you're paying for hosting. Some hosting
companies really load them up.

If you're getting different performance on 2 different machines, and this
behavior is consistent, it may be indeed due to the temp files and or other
cleanup necessary on the machine you're working on. I'm going to quote
Stephen Rusynko, as he has a standard recommendation for this:

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server
Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

I have found a solution for this problem. There are files that FrontPage
writes onto the server and then references during the processing of files. I
deleted these files and reopened the site in FrontPage. When I did this
FrontPage recreated the files and the issue was resolved.

Would you mind sharing the details of what files you are referring to?

I'm having similar problems and would like to try your solution out.

Thanks for the help and clarifications!
