frontpage vs. golive

Hi

Our website is hosted on an SBS 2003 with FrontPage extension, etc. I'm
using FrontPage 2002 to manage the site.

If we have an external web designer who doesn't use FrontPage (he uses
GoLive, Dreamweaver, Fetch, etc.), will that be an issue in any way if we
both manage and design the site using our own software ?

Your advice is really appreciated.

Yes, it certainly could be. This would be particularly true if your site is
using FP extensions for any server-side features like form processing, or
guestbooks, or top 10, etc. One touch by GL's or DW's FTP could put you
into a tailspin.

No problem as long as you don't touch the FP markup. I do it all the time,
both DW and Golive. As long as you only upload your own files, FTP is no
problem.

Sigh, only if you overwrite the FP extensions in the _VTI_ directories.
Otherwise there is no problem..

This is contrary to everything I have experienced, but if you say so, then I
will have to reexamine my resources.

There is a problem, the extensions are not aware that content has changed in the web, so the _vti
folders are not updated, which can cause problem if the site is later managed with FP.

You can indeed upload files using FTP to an FP site, provided those
files are not part of the FP web (e.g., .htacess files, robots.txt
files, etc.) without damaging the extensions, but files within the FP
web must be uploaded via FP unless you want a mess to clean up.
