Frontpage web loses extensions

I'm in IT for an ISP, and I'm having a weird problem with
one of our Frontpage customers - the server is a Windows
2000 box running IIS and Frontpage 2002.

The customer's website is set up, and has been extended -
Frontpage extensions are working.

When the customer publishes his web, all of a sudden the
website is no longer extended - his counters and whatnot
don't work.

If I re-extend the site, it works fine. But this isn't a
proper solution - does anyone have any ideas?

If your customers "publish" their sites using FTP the
extensions will most likely break. Tell them to use the
File | Publish method and the extensions will remain in
tact.

I just talked to the customer; he's using Frontpage 2000,
and is able to publish just fine - until he adds something
like a counter - as soon as he added a counter, the
extensions stopped working.

He is publishing via File --> Publish in Frontpage, not FTP.
