I have a new installation of Windows 2003 Server with web
services enabled including ASP and FrontPage Extensions
2002 and SMTP Server.
The problem: when I publish my site none of the forms post
to a file or email as they used to in Windows NT. There
is nothing in the forms that have changed. I realize that
many services are turned off by default in Win 2003 but
this is quite illusive. Here is what I've done.
I've installed extensions in a brand-new site and have
edited the FP properties to include an SMTP server,
including a sender and reply-to email address.
I've also configured the SMTP server to send mail and have
successfully sent mail through the "send invitation" form
(this is part of SharePoint).
I published the site using FrontPage XP, no errors or
anything. However, if I try to edit any of the forms that
contain an e-mail recipient I get the following
error: "This form is being created on a Disk-Based Web or
the FrontPage Server Extensions have not been configured
to send e-mail. Please direct your system administrator
or Internet Service Provider to the instructions
in 'Setting up E-Mail Options on Windows' or 'Setting Up E-
Mail Options on UNIX' in the Server Extensions Resource
Kit. If you do not have the Server Extensions Resource
Kit, you can find it at
http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/wpp/serk. Would you
like to remove the e-mail recipient? YES, NO"
Obviously this message is referring to previous versions
of Windows because Win2003 comes with a very different set
of installation methods. Does anyone know how to
configure Win2003 to properly configure FrontPage
Extensions to send email and or save form posts to a
file? I know of a few people having this same problem.
Thanks,
Bernard
