I am about to begin designing my first webpage, is
Frontpage a good beginner product?

As good as if not better than anything out there.
You didn't say which version you were going to use,
but I would buy a book to go with it.
FrontPage Inside Out version???? By Jim Buyens.
????= which ever version you have

I would add to Steve's remarks that no web development toolkit is a
substitute for knowing something about HTML, JavaScript, and web development
in general. I would supplement any book on FrontPage with a good book on
HTML as well.

Okay, thanks. Just didnt want to even start Frontpage if
this wasnt a beginner product (also).

Guess I am off to buy some books too. Its time to learn
web design!

It depends upon which version of Windows you have.
If you have Windows 2000 or XP get FrontPage 2003

If you have Windows 98 or ME you will have to use FrontPage 2002.

I can recommend "Front Page 2000 for Dummies" (me being a prime
example..!) by Asha Dornfest. I assume it's been updated for later
versions.

Using FP2000 ok on Win98SE.

Yes you can use 2000.
I mentioned 2002 because I figured it would be easier to find.
