Fully qualified domain name and Project server 2007

Our server team setup our project server 2007 with a fully qualified domain
name. ex. projects.company.com. It is setup on a virtual server, if that
makes a difference.

I then can access project web access no problem via the above url. I can
also add that url to Project 2007 on my pc and it will log in correctly.

The problem we are having is that when you go to publish a project file to
the project server it won't work.

It prompts for where you select to create the workspace for this document.
There is a drop down that does not allow you to deselect the virtual server
name: vmprojectserver01, then the next box it prompts for the site url. If
I enter the project url(projects.company.com) it concattenates the virtual
server name and the project url such as:
http://vmprojectserver01/http://projects.company.com/Test project file

My question is, is the server set up right? can you use a fully qualified
domain name for access the project server project web access?

You can use a host header with no problem but it looks like you may
not have set Sharepoint correctly prior to creating the PWA site.

I need some information:

1) Did you create the Web application to PWA using the
project.company.com as the host header or did you simply add it the
host header to IIS?
2) What are your Workspace Provisioning Settings and did you create a
site collection to contain the individual project workspaces?

Let me know.

1. The server guy said that he used the wizard in setting up the server and
it did everything supposily. So he created the web application with the host
header.

2. When i go into it the workspace provisioning settings. It is similar to
my probleem in project. Top box has default web application and drop down
you cannot do anythign with that has: http://vmprojserv then a site url box
which is empty(i try to enter the http://projects.company.com and it concats
the two below in the proposed url below, click save and it gives this error:
no site or site collection exists at the site url specified. Enter a site url
for a valid site or site collection and try again.

However, if the site url is blank, the provisioning mode is automatically
create a project workspace, and the option to sync project web access users
with project workspaces is checked.

I am thinking something wrong with how the site is set up with the url.

Thank you very much for the help and time.
