Function keys

My function keys are performing operations within one program that are not
for that program. For example, when I am in Word and press F7, the system
starts Excel. The F12 key when pressed puts a message on the screen saying
"Preset key not saved." I use Attachmate for a mainframe connection, and I
need to use my function keys to move and exit, but they are not working as
they should. I need help.

This "Attachmate" program is likely intercepting the keystrokes instead
of passing them on. It's not anything that can be "fixed" in Office.
Please review your documentation for this "Attachmate" program you have.

Does your keyboard have a Fn key? If so, press it once. That should switch
it between the programmable functions (which you probably don't know
anything about) and the regular functions.
