You need to add the DAO reference. From the VBE, go to
tools>references>
select the Microsoft DAO 3.6 object library

This should do it...

Thank you. However I do have that reference checked and
it still does not give me the option. i check the other
database where I do have the ability to reference
the .EDIT function and I have the same reference checked
in that database as I do in this one. So i know it is not
my computer but rather some setting in the new databse
that i just can not figure out.
