Gantt chart bar displays wrong time

IndyReese

I am using Project 2007. We are mapping out an industrial process in seconds
by manually scaling hours as minutes and minutes as seconds. I have the
timescale set as minutes with a 10 count and 1,2,3,4 label. When I put a
number over 240 mins in for duration, the gantt chart bar adds 60 to the
number. I can duplicate the problem on a new project. Does anyone have any
ideas?

Check your working times (tools, options, change working time) to ensure
that you have a calendar with correct working times set. In your case all
hours of all days and weekends should be working time. The standard calendar
for project has 8-12 and 1-5 as working hours. If the task starts at 8 AM
(as it should by default) and has a duration of 241 minutes it would put the
finish ot the task at 1:01 PM - 301 minutes later.

Hi IndyReese ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Yes! By default, an 8 hour day starts at 08:00 to 12:00 and then 13:00 TO
17:00. Thus the first working part is 4 hours or 240 minutes. Tha Gantt
Chart will then show the lunch hour - 60 mins and begin work again at 300
minutes. Does that make sense? To overcome this, you'll need to change the
working time calendar to work through the lunch hour. Bear in mind FAQ
Item: 5. Default Working Hours

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
