Gantt Chart vs. Enterprise Gantt

I have searched all the documentation and this area for the difference
between Enterprise Gantt and regular Gantt charts in Project Professional
when connected to Project Server but cannot discern the difference. I would
appreciate it if anyone can enlighten me on this. Thanks

The Views are identical in appearance. The Gantt Chart view is a default
View that ships with Microsoft Project Professional and is stored in the
Global.mpt file on your hard drive. The Enterprise Gantt Chart view is an
enterprise default View that ships with Project Server and is stored in the
Enterprise Global file on the server. Users can modify their own Gantt
Chart view, but only the Project Server administrator can modify the
Enterprise Gantt Chart view. Hope this helps.

Could you tell me what are the default Views and Tables that are setup in the
Enterprise Global template when EPM is first installed?

Thanks!

And the only enterprise Table is the task Enterprise Entry table.

hi Dale,
I am a project manager of the enterprise project and I am also the project
server administrator. I made some changes to the Gantt Chart, will the
Enterprise Gantt Chart be updated automatically?

No, the Enterprise Gantt Chart will not be updated. Project managers can
modify the Gantt Chart view, which is one of the default Views that ship
with Microsoft Project, and which is found in the Global.mpt file on their
own PC's hard drive. Only the Project Server administrator can modify the
Enterprise Gantt Chart, which is located in the Enterprise Global file on
the server hosting Project Server. Hope this helps.

thanks Dale,
so in the project portal i click on a project name to view the project
details, these details will be from the enterprise gantt cart but not the
gantt chart in MSP?

If I'm right, how can I synchronise the enterprise and the default gantt
chart?

I have no idea what you mean by "thick portal." Do you mean Project Web
Access? If so, the Gantt Chart you see displayed in the Project Details
views has nothing to do with either the Gantt Chart or Enterprise Gantt
Chart views in Project Professional 2007. The PWA Gantt Charts must be
edited by the Project Server administrator in the Gantt Chart Formats
section of PWA. Let us know if this is what you mean.

Hi Dale
thanks for your reponse
I think I am a little confused here. in the Project Centre of the Microsoft
Project Web Access portal I have 2 projets listed. When I select a project
and click on Edit it opens in MS Project 2007 with all the tasks listed in
Gantt Chart view.

Aren't these tasks supposed to be populated in PWA after I published the
project within MSP2007?

I don't understand what you are confused about. When you select a project
in the Project Center and then click the Edit button, the system launches
Microsoft Project 2007 and opens the project for editing. If you click the
blue hyperlink for the name of the project in the Project Center, the system
displays a Project Details view in PWA. So, where is your confusion? Let
us know and we will try to help.
