Get message: Initializing Word when I open a document.Product acti

Each time I attempt to open or create a document. I get this small splash
banner
that says Initializing Word2003...........

Sometimes I have to ........wait 5 minutes.Is there a setting I forgot ?
This happens
on all SME MS OFFICE i installed. Those bundled with the OEM install look O.K.
