Get Open File Name dialog. When user clicks cancel.

D

DZ

How can I take an action (Example: Display a measssge box ), if the user
clicks Cancel in the Open Dialog.

I got this API to work, but I know very little about how to manipulate it.
Some sample code and an indication of where to place ithe code would be very
appreciated.

As is stands now, when the user clicks cancel, the return value is the first
file in My Documents. I would like have it return nothing if the user clicks
cancel, then display a message box.

Here is API as I am currently using it:

I may be entirely missing the point here, but in vba is it not just querying
the value returned by the dialog:

With Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs)
If .Show = 0 Then msgbox "Don't you dare cancel on me!" ' 0=cancel
'do amazing stuff here
End With

look at 'help' for .show
