That file was corrupted by something. I can't open it and when I try to
recover the text in Word, I get MANY pages of garbage. I hate to say this
because it's not something I'd want to hear but you're going to have to
start over again. I'm sorry.

There are a couple of things you can try, disable "detailed display" in view before
trying to open the file. Look in your temp folder to see if Publisher left a temp
file. In Windows Explorer, type %temp% in the address bar, if you find a file with a
pub prefix, change the .tmp extension to .pub and keep your fingers crossed.

Another thought, try opening the file in safe mode. Have you updated your printer
driver? Publisher 2000 saves printer information in each file, it maybe looking for
the printer.

I have tried running in Safe Mode still no joy... have also tried it on my
laptop and can still not open.

The printer theory is good though i have just checked my restore pionts in
XP and have noticed that a restore piont has been created at 13:19 for
Printer Driver Microsoft Office Document. I dont recall installing this
driver or installing any driver then. I did install IRIS OCR for my scanner
an hour earlier and when i turned my PC back on it said it had just recovered
from a serious error.. Unfortunatley i did'nt report this to MS
