getting drawing to stay in one place

Not sure I'm in the right group for this question.

I'm trying to create a template that can be used to write
documents that will be printed on a letterhead. This
means that the first page will have to have a greater top
margin and left margin to accomodate the letterhead on top
and list of board members on the left (this is really just
for documents that are longer than one page). Doing the
top is relatively easy (can just get people to start a
little lower on the page), but getting a larger left
margin on page one is proving more problematic. The
approach I took was to put a rectangle at the top and a
rectangle at the left and formatting it to have no lines
around it - effectively making it a non-printing drawing.

This works ok, except that the drawings keep moving when
paragraph returns are entered and text deleted, etc. Is
there a way to get the drawings to stay put and to prevent
the drawings from being deleted? Alternatively, has
someone developed a template that does what I am trying to
do?

Your graphic requires an absolute position this is done
throught the Format/Object or Picture menu Layout tab
Advanced (2000 or higher version). You will have to do
some math to figure out the absolute position on the page
then fill the number into the boxes. This should keep you
graphic where you want it. Also ensure that the text
wrapping is select for the desired results.
