Getting fill cannot translate error

I am runnng into a vexing problem. My users are all on Powerpoint 2000 they
prepare a daily presentation for a number of people. The issue is when a 2003
Powerpoint user attempts to open the file they get a powerpoint cannot
translate file error. The weird thing is that I can open the presentation in
2003 using slide sorter view but if I view in normal and try and close the
file it asks to save the file even I have not modified it at all. If I save
it of course the File translation error appears. Any help with this would be
aprreciated.

Have you applied Service Pack 1 to the PowerPoint 2003 system? Go to Help >
Check for Updates and follow the links. Should fix the problem.

Have another question is there a tool Like MBSA to determine what updates
office may need on this system. This system does not have access to the
internet so i would have to run something like hfnetchk on it to find what
updates it needs. But like I stated Service Pack 1 is installed.
