Getting Hotmail eMail

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

Until now, clicking on Entourage 'Inbox' for my Hotmail account downloaded all my eMails, marked 'unread'. I could then read them and they would be marked 'read'. I could then 'move' them to my 'Inbox' on my computer. They stayed there until I manually selected 'Move'.

Recently as soon as all new eMails are downloaded they begin automatically transferring to the computer 'Inbox', but not always all of them, maybe just some of them. The Hotmail 'Deleted Items' then shows the number of unread eMail deleted. I don't know how to get back to the previous condition as I cannot find anything to control this in the Preferences or Account settings.

I want the mail, read or unread, to stay where it is until I manually move it. HELP!

You must have a rule that is moving the message. The most likely culprit is
the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by
accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that
dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look
for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder
as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other
rules.
