Getting local back-up data from entourageback onto the exchange server

Hey all,

I accidentally deleted my entire exchange calendar. I use entourage to
manage my exchange account. I have a back-up of the main identity file from
just before the delete. Great, right? Sure, except that when I swap out the
current (without calendar data) main identity with the back-up main identity
(with calendar data), the data populates the calendar, but then gets wiped
when entourage syncs with the exchange server. Specifically, the data
disappears when syncing is at the "Updating sync issues" stage (as noted in
the lower right hand corner of entourage during sync).

Neither I or my IT girl can sort out how to force entourage to use the local
calendar data instead of the blank server calendar data.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

1. disconnect from the network.
2. restore your entourage backup.
3. copy ALL data from the exchange account to the 'on my computer'
hierarchy
4. connect to the network and allow the sync to wipe the entourage data
5. copy the data back top the exchange account hierarchy
6. allow exchange to sync the 'new' data back to the server.

I know it's a little long winded, but it's the best solution at the
moment, unless you can restore from a backup of the exchange mail store,
but then you lose all mail that has arrived since the problem started.

Thanks for the suggestion Barry. I had thought of this as well but have yet to try it because I can't seem to figure out how to copy the calendar data from the exchange calendar to the "on my computer calendar." The only way I can find to do it is to "copy to calendar..." each individual calendar entry. Is there a way to select all calendar items and then copy them? Or to copy the entire calendar?

I just tested this method with 2-3 events and it worked (woo hoo!), which is such a relief. It would just be ideal if I could somehow copy all clendar items at once.

Thanks!

set up a calendar view (custom view in Entourage 2004) that will finds
all calendar events (there may be one already set up by default). The
easy way to do this set up a search for "event contains 'a'" OR "event
does not contain 'a'" (if you have any public folders set up as
'favourites', events in these public folders will also be shown - just
sort by 'folder' to select the main events only).

this will result in a list of events where you can 'select all' and drag
them over wholesale.
