Getting preview to work properly, third request.

My users are having a problem with preview when opening a document. First
they find the document they need in details view, highlight it, and switch
to preview. In Office 2000, the highlighted file would be the file that
come up in preview. In Office XP when they switch to preview, the file with
the lowest alphabetical rank displays instead and they are left to struggle
to find the document that they wanted to check on again... Is there anyway
to change this behaviour to be like Office 2000 was? Please let me know if
it is not possible so i can stop looking for a solution. Thank you, charlie

Hi Charlie,

If I select a file in File=>Open in Word with
details view and then change the view to Preview
the pointer doesn't move, it previews that file for me.

What version of Windows are you using and are
you running any addins or 3rd party software or
have you set policies for the behavior of Office?

This is happening with Office XP running on Windows XP. Office XP is an
upgrade from Office 2000. I don't know about any add-ins for Office. We
just run it straight out of the box. Same with any policies. None are
added, everything is default settings... I guess i should have indicated
that this is happening in the list view to preview change... Maybe i can
get them using the detail view instead... Thanks for the clue though. That
is one item of progress. charlie
