Ghost Writing

Am running Office 2003 beta version and have the
following issue. If I don't immediately turn speech off
every time I open Word, Excel, IE, etc., my PC starts
writing by itself. There is no correlation with words I
might be saying, its "word salad." Wherever my insertion
point is, words begin to appear. Very strange.

Anyone out there know why this might be happening?

It sounds like the speech engine is interpreting static and other
environmental noise as words. Or... maybe the computer is haunted!

If you never use speech, then I suggest that you remove it. It's a bit of a
resource hog, in addition to the problems you've discovered. Barring that,
you might try turning the volume all the way down on the Microphone (of
whatever recording device is selected).
