gibberish

Aloha to you,

I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me. I am attempting
to open a file, and all I get is a bunch of letters, numbers, and symbols
(aka gibberish). How do I convert this to the mpg that I am trying to view?

Thanks in advance and all assistance in this.

Open it with a mediaplayer like Windows Media Player?

Yes, so if you open it with a Media Player how can it display characters
then?
Otherwise have it resend to you to make sure it wasn't damaged and ask the
sender for what application the file is and what codec is required. If you
are still not succesful please continue in a multimedia newsgroup.
