Global Templated ignored

Ha,

We have a problem with Project Server. We made some settings in the
Enterprise Global Template like fixed work and not estimated durations.
When we open a new project, after being logged on (so the EGT is loaded),
these settings aren't set.

Anyone a clue?

Regards,

Arno

The settings you have specified in the Enterprise Global do not work the way
you have assumed. Instead, the Enterprise Global file is like the "library"
of your organization's custom objects, such as Views, Tables, Filters,
Groups, Fields, etc. The Enterprise Global file is how you share the latest
version of every enterprise oject with everyone in your system. So, for
example, if you create a new enterprise View in the Enterprise Global, the
next time every PM launches Microsoft Project Professional and logs into
Project Server, he/she will automatically receive your new custom enterprise
View.

You cannot control the Tools - Options settings for every user by setting
them in the Enterprise Global. The only exception to this rule is the
default Symbol value in the Currency section of the View page in the Options
dialog. Instead, if you wish to control the other settings in the Options
dialog for every user, you should create one or more enterprise project
templates in which the correct settings are specified (such as Fixed Work)
and then require all PM's to only create new projects from an enterprise
template. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanx for your clarification! We always used it incorrect, wrong assumption
:)
