Gmail via IMAP, multiple accounts, replies default to Gmail

My Gmail account pulls retrieves from 3 different email accounts.
These accounts are confirmed to send from, so when I reply in Gmail,
the from address is the account that received the mail.

Entourage connects to Gmail via IMAP; it's set as my Default account
in Entourage. When I receive a message on any of the three accounts
and reply to the message, the From field defaults to my Gmail account.
I've deselected "Reply from the default account" in Entourage
Preferences.

It seems it should be that if (e-mail address removed) retrieves the
message, then the from reply should default to (e-mail address removed).
Isn't that info in the header?

Is it possible that when I reply to a message in Entourage the From
account is the account that received the email?

Thanks in advance!
Michael

I'm not sure this is wise since you are also using Entourage. My advice
is to set up the accounts in Entourage and let it check them itself.

But I can understand if you do a plurality of your email checking from
multiple computers and *must* do this through Gmail.

Entourage doesn't work that way by default. An AppleScript can be used
to tell Entourage that a particular message actually belongs to another
account (that you have set up in Entourage), but I'm not sure if the
script will even work with a message on an IMAP server since it's a
fundamental contradiction.

Michael,

Here's a PARTIAL solution if you MUST feed all three accounts through one
Gmail account. Let's call the accounts A, B, and C, with A pulling mail from
B and C.

Set up all three accounts in Entourage, but include only A in the Send and
Receive All schedule. When you want to reply to an email that came
originally to B, choose B from the "From" drop-down list at the top of the
message window. Similarly for mail received by C.

This is not fully automatic, but it does require only one manual step for
each outgoing message. I doubt if you can do better than that, unless you
stop feeding mail through A and retrieve mail from B and C directly (which
would accomplish what you want).
