go to desktop

There seems to be no W2K community, but you guys seem to know everything, so
I'll ask here: in the past, I was able to go to the Desktop by clicking on
the visible bit of Desktop that appeared behind open windows. The Desktop
could be made the active item, just as individual windows are.
That seems to have gone away. Is there any way to bring up the desktop with
a single click? (does anyone know why this went away?) Thanks!

That article assumes you have a Quick Launch toolbar (at least I thought so
on a quick scan of it) - if not, right click on the Taskbar and select
Properties and check the box for the quick launch bar.

Or do what I do .. press the Windows key and D together. I find that much
more convenient than the mouse.

Well, yeh.

That's exactly what I am trying to by-pass.

(not to fret: you are not the first MVP who neglected to read the question.)

OH! That's right! Thanks for the reminder.
Actually, I had also forgotten that when this originally annoyed me, I had
set a control-alt-d shortcut key to invoke the Desktop.

You know, they say that the memory is the first to go. But I've forgotten
what they say is next.

Hey, while I'm on roll -- how do I activate the little menu with "minimize"
and restore" in it -- in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. I thinkit
emanates from the program icon. Ya know what I mean?

Thanks, Tony!

Not to fret, you aren't the only user that neglected to observe the
difference between MS Office and the operating system. The correct group
would be "microsoft.public.win2000.general"
