I recently installed Visio 2002 professional on a Compaq
Presario 5838 (500MHz Athlon) running Windows 98 SE. I
can cause a general protection fault with perfect
regularity by selecting text within an object, and trying
to edit it. I can enter text just fine, but the only way
I can edit existing text is to select the object and
use "Replace" to change it. I have used earlier versions
of Visio for years, without any such problem.
This problem is so regular, so mainstream, and so fatal,
that I can't possibly be the only one that has encountered
it, but I don't see anything about it in the knowledge
base. What do I need to change or download? I've already
run "Detect and Repair" and Windows Update.
