Gradients

I've inserted a dotted line into my publication. I'm trying to get a colour
gradient along the line, i.e. each dot is a slightly lighter colour from
left to right. I can get a gradient within each dot but not along the line.
Is it possible to do this with Publisher?

Mary,

It took me a while to get around to trying this since I had a HD crash to
deal with. That's now behind me, I now have a larger HD and more RAM which
I've needed for a while. I tried following your instructions today,
unsuccessfully.

I only got as far as ungrouping the .wmf file. When I tried to ungroup, I
had to convert the line (dots) to a MS Office drawing object before I could
do it. The "yes" had no meaning - I assume that should've been the answer to
a question that I wasn't asked. After that the effort deteriorated and I
didn't accomplish what I set out to do.

Would you perhaps elaborate a bit.

Thanks.

The Yes was the answer to the question about converting the picture to a
drawing object.

Gotcha! But I still derailed after that.

When you ungroup, there is a background, this you need to delete, you are then left
with your line, select it, (there is a line around the line, click lines, select no
line). Now you can go to fill, fill effects, and apply your gradient. You will be
able to see the effect better if you click off boundaries and guides in the view
menu.
