Graduated transparent fills in PowerPoint 2003

Anyone else having problems getting graduated transparent fills to
print correctly with PowerPoint 2003?

The slide displays fine within PowerPoint, but when printing to
different printers (from different manufacturers), the "lighter"
part of the filled object prints as the "darker" part (and vice-
versa), and the whole object covers whatever is below it.

This also happens if I make a PDF file (using Adobe Acrobat) from
the PowerPoint file.

You can see a sample of what I'm seeing, plus a test PowerPoint
file, at

Thanks,
Jim

Only people who try to print 'em. :-(
It's a known problem.

Thanks for the quick response. By "known problem", do you mean
that Microsoft has admitted this as a bug in PowerPoint 2003? I
couldn't find anything in their knowledge base. Or do you mean
"known to the user community"?
Select the gradient/transparent filled shape AND anything
beneath it that it overlaps.

Choose Edit, Copy.

Choose Edit, Paste Special, as PNG

If the PNG looks good, delete the stuff you just copied.

Now try printing again.

Thanks, I'll pass this along to my client and let you know if that
helps. (And I'll take a look at the URLs in your .sig.)
