Transparent object shown opaque in print preview

Hi,

I am having a powerpoint slide with transparent objects(one a placeholder,
the other a rectangle).
The placeholder is in the foreground of the slide and since it is
transparent(50%) i am able to see the background which is a globe. But in the
print preview the placeholder is completely covering the background data as
if it is opaque. The same is the case with the 50% transparent rectangle. In
the slide i can see the data behind rectangle but not in print preview.
The print is similar to print preview.
I tried this with different Printers(HP, Generic) and the result is same.
I am using Powerpoint 2003 and Windows XP SP2. Does anyone have any idea
about the cause of the problem? Is it a bug with Microsoft Powerpoint 2002?

Have you tried actually printing a page or two? It might just be a bug in
print preview.

You can copy the transparent object and if you go to edit - paste
special - paste as .png you'll be all set. Unfortunately you won't be
able to edit the object, but you'll be able to print fine.

Yes i have printed the document using HP driver to HP printer, Ricoh Driver
to Ricoh
Printer. For both cases the print is opaque and i cannot see the background
data. I also used a Microsoft provided bitmap driver which outputs a bitmap
directly. This also gave the bitmap output as opaque.

Thanks for clarifying.

I'd try Steve's suggestion because it's an easy thing to try and might take
care of the issue. If that doesn't work, then I'd do what ViCoSo suggests,
because I know it will work.

I have tried transparency from 0% to 100%. still the print preview is shown
as black(opaque). The printout is also opaque. If it is a bug with Powerpoint
2003, how do i report it to Microsoft?
