Graphic problem

Can anyone advise if there is a way to place a graphic of a sheet of
letterhead into the first page of a document that only appears on that first
page but not succeeding pages??

I don't know about the "of a sheet of letterhead" bit, but you should be
able to make something work using the tips here:
