Graphics causing delays

Graphics are causing word to run very slowly, like a system resource overload
e.g. low memory. But this is a brand-new system (OS installed 2 days ago)
with higher specs than other systems which have opened and used the exact
same files with no problems at all.

Symptoms particularly bad when scrolling - the image portion which was
visible when file opened is visible, but scrolling means that new portions
are invisible and return to the original protion is also invisible.

No other office programs seem to experience the same problems (eg powerpoint).

All Win XP and Office XP patches are up to date at time of writing this email.

I have seen other posts with similar symptoms, however the checkboxes for
picture placeholders (not checked) and drawings (checked) in the
TOOLS\OPTIONS\VIEW tab are already as suggestions offered.

PLEASE HELP! I AM TEARING MY HAIR OUT ON THIS ONE!

Cheers, Chris.

Try reducing the hardware acceleration setting in Start | Control Panel
| Display | Advanced. The fastest setting is the default, but is not
always the best.
