Graphics don't show on file loaded from server

Firstly. apologies if similar posts have appeared before I've just
subscribed to this group and have only downloaded 500 headers not 50000
and can see no reference in those posts to this problem.

A friend who is a schoolteacher created (using publisher 2003) a
document on her laptop whilst at home. At work she opened the file and
then saved it to the server, on the server the file opens fine with
publisher but if a student from one of the classrooms opens the file
they don't get the images - only the 'anchor points'

Any ideas?

TIA

Angus

Sorry for my indolence, it was meant as a polite comment. It is often
difficult to phrase a google search that brings specifics rather than a
raft of meaningless hits.

My experience of other news groups, including the ones I actively
participate in, is that they have been more friendly. Even if the
question has been asked before.

This question is answered quite regularly, the problem is probably that you
didn't choose the correct search parameters. I probably wouldn't know what
to search for either precisely, to be honest.

Here's my canned response:

Try View > Pictures > Detailed Display.

If this fails, this is almost certainly a problem with your video driver.

By going to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, and
dragging the Hardware Acceleration slider down three notches, you will be
able to disable Publisher from making the calls on the video driver that
cause this problem.

If this does fix your problem, it means that the problem does indeed lie
with the video driver. You can leave your computer running at this lower
hardware acceleration, but it may cause problems with other programs. It is
a better solution to try and find a driver update for your graphics card.
Normally, the latest drivers from the video card manufacturer will do the
trick, but ATI (and recently Intel and Dell) tend to be slower in perfecting
their drivers, so some newer ATI and Intel cards to not yet have drivers
available that do not exhibit this behaviour. The solution here is to nag
ATI/Intel/Dell for better drivers.

(Please note that even if your computer is brand new, you won't necessarily
have the latest drivers)

Ed, I appreciate your reply, I agree that phrasing a search is often the
most difficult part of finding what you need and I'm familiar with
questions being repeated (often in many different ways) from my
experience in other groups.

I'll try out what you've suggested in order to verify the problem. Once
again many thanks.
