Graphics Interaction with Indents and Tabs

J

JeffreyBee

Hello.

I have noticed that when I insert a graphic into a Word document on the left
side of the page and apply text wrapping to the graphic (such as square or
tight) that Indents (left, first line & hanging) and tabs no longer function
for the text that is effected by the graphics wrapping feature.

Am I missing something or is there a work around to get indents and tabs to
work with text wrapping around a graphic.

Thanks for educating me.

This is a known issue. It's documented for Word 2000 in this KB
article:

WD2000: Hanging Indent Lost When Text Wraps to Right Side of Square
Wrapped Object
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/209633/en-us

but this bug is still present, unfortunately (I don't know about Word
2007, though).

You could test printing; perhaps the problem is only with the display.

Another workaround is to use an outline-numbered style that doesn't
actually have any numbering specified but does have the desired
indentation specified in the numbering options <sigh>.
