Graphics missing from design view with Extended Desktop enabled

I am currently struggling working with Powerpoint 2003 with Extend Desktop
(multiple monitors) enabled on my Dell Latitude X1.

When in design/edit mode, many of the graphic elements do not display, such
as table borders, word art, lines, and shapes. These elements are visible on
the slide thumbnail but not in the main window. If I mouse to the area where
the element is, I can select the items (even though they are invisible). The
issue exists regardless of whether Powerpoint is located on my primary
(notebook) or extended (Dell LCD) display.

When I put the presentation in slideshow mode, everything displays.

As a test, I turned off extended desktop mode and everything displays.
Anyone have any ideas?

Unfortunately this is not a function (or problem) of PPT, but with the
graphics card in the computer - and something I have also encountered. A
Dell Latitude's shared memory graphics card is the culprit. Because it is
using shared memory there is just to much to process and the edit view of
PPT seems to be where things fall apart (so maybe some of the blame is PPT).
You can try going into the Display properties and increasing the amount of
memory the graphics card secure (CONTROL PANEL >> DISPLAY >> ADAPTOR tab)
and you can also see about adding more memory to the computer as possible
solutions. Other things that affect it are how many other applications are
running (taking up memory), how long since the last restart (captured
memory), and are you connected to a network (memory needed to maintain
connection). Best of luck.

Thanks folks. I'll have a look. That'll be really disappointing if it's a
system limitation since it is soo much easier to work on the 19" LCD rather
than my ultraportable little widescreen laptop monitor.
