greyed out files

I have just transfered files from an old imac to a new powerbool (office 98 to
office 2004), The flles on the new computer are "greyed out". any ideas?

Did you use a MS DOS formatted disk to do the transfer? Or through an email
software that puts files in a Windows format? This could be the reason (I
did the same), as the "Creator" and "Type" of your files seem to have been
lost on the way. The solution will be to add the ".doc" or ".xls" extensions
to the filenames, or to open them from the "File" menu...
