Greyed-out menus/Navigation view

Hi: I just installed FrontPage on an XP machine. I've created some pages and wanted to work in 'Navigation View.' However, this is greyed out in the menu. I suspect it has something to do with authoring settings, yet despite experimenting with all settings, I still can't get 'Navigation View' to become active.

Is the trial version limited? Or could this be a glitch? Installation error? Something I am doing way wrong?

Any help appreciated!

The navigation (and many other features) are grayed out because you may of
done a file | open.
Instead, you should do a File | Open Site. The first time you do this, if
it has never been done before, you will not see any files in the browse
folder. It looks kind of weird but trust me ... it will work. Chose Open
Site and browse to the folder that you are trying to open. You wont select
any files because they are hidden. You will know that you have done it
correctly if you get a message that says FP must install some files to make
this a web (something to that effect). Click yes and it will convert the
site to a proper Web Site. Also you should notice the folder looking
different while viewing via the Windows Explorer. The icon changes from a
folder to a folder with a globe in it.

Let me know if this worked.

JCO: Thanks! This got me started on the right track. I'm a new user so I'm still working my way around the menus. You're right--I had been using 'Open' rather than 'Open Site'. I appreciate the advice.
