Groove 2007 access to a 3.1 workspace

The FAQs say that a groove 2007 user can accept an invitation to a workspace
created under groove 3.1, but my system (groove 2007, trial version) is
telling me that I cannot accept such an invitation.

Does anybody know anything more about this? Should it be possible? Does it
have to do with my running the trial version?
