Hi Frank,

There have been some changes (additions/deletions) in the
MS Office Groove 2007 (v4) functionality compared to Groove 3.1. You may want to use the link below to also post the question in
the Groove newsgroup and include the steps you were able to use in v3.1 to accomplish your task.

I am extremely frustrated with the list of things that will no longer work.
They have taken out key features.... I took this from the help file in the
latest groove beta download...

Features and tools no longer available in this release
The list below describes the features and tools no longer available in this
release. The lengthy number of items mostly reflects adjustments to the
feature set as the Groove application becomes part of Microsoft's Office
offerings. Additionally, this release focuses on ensuring the highest quality
of the key features that receive the most use.

The following tools and toolsets are no longer available for adding to new
or existing workspaces: Contact Manager, Discussion, Document Review,
Outliner, Task Manager, Text, Tic-Tac-Toe, Web Links, Welcome Page, Advanced
Project Toolset, and Mobile Workspace for SharePoint.
Instances of these tools in existing workspaces will continue to function.

A new version of the Groove Discussion Tool (as described above) is now
available.

The Groove SharePoint Files Tool replaces Mobile Workspace for SharePoint.
Note that you can no longer synchronize data in an between existing mobile
workspaces and its associated SharePoint site.

Chat-only workspaces. Chat is now available only as part of standard or file
sharing workspaces.

Co-editing of Word documents.

Presenting of PowerPoint slide shows.

File viewers in the Groove Files Tool.

Outlook Calendar integration with the Groove Calendar and Groove Meetings
tools.

Launching Netmeeting.

Sending an Outlook email thread to a Groove workspace.

Sending Lotus Notes documents to a Groove workspace.

XMPP Proxy Server and Client features (i.e., interacting with Jabber users).

Options in account preferences for presence settings for idle behavior.

Docking the Groove Launchbar.

The "Auto-create record" feature in the Groove Forms tool.

Forms tools created in Groove versions prior to Groove 2.5 will not be
accessible.

Forms tools created in Groove 2.5 will be accessible only for the purpose of
exporting data. Exported data can then be imported into a new Forms tool.

Groove accounts can no longer be uploaded to groove.net for backup or for
setting up use on multiple computers. Multiple computers usage now requires
saving your account file manually.

Hi Michael,

You may want to post this to the MS Office Groove discussion group using link #4, below.

You may also want to use the 2007 feedback tool from link #3 below. That tool sends your comments, ideas and screenshots directly
to the MS Office Product teams.

I concur - Groove 2007 disappoints. While it's all well and good to buy
Groove and merge it with the Office business model, common courtesy to
existing users has to have some place in this. The most suitable term to
describe what was done in the transition between and Groove 3.1 and Office
Groove 2007 is "gutted." I will be surprised if this isn't the reaction of
most existing Groove 3.1 users.

While one understands the desire to drive folks to SharePoint, Communicator,
and Project, it's disappointing that my team - which need to buy new Groove
3.1 licenses but doesn't have a hosted version, so apparently is not eligible
to purchase them - now has to start from scratch in looking for a
collaboration utility.

Let me suggest a better way to handle this is to use the old document
review, task scheduler, and co-edit as basic Groove features, and to provide
"teasers" to users of these features about all the wonderful stuff they'll
get if they adopt the full-fledged Office 2007.
