Groove 2007 Multiple Computers

Hello,

Can the subscription version of Groove 2007 (same account) be used on
multiple computers as is supported in version 3.1?

With Groove 3.1 you could use the same account on multiple computers. I
read that the Full Groove 2007 product allows installation on up to five
computers. However it appears that the subscription version of Groove 2007
will not allow the installation onto multiple computers using the same
Subscription Code. In addition the subscription version does not allow phone
activation.

Not only am I unable to install on multiple computers but it seems that I
will be unable to reuse the Subscription Code if the system crashes and
software must be reinstalled, or if I want to move the software from one
system to a new system.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Michael McCarrick

Hi Michael -

I'm guessing that you are trying to enter the subscription code on the
second computer. If so, then you're probably creating a new account on the
second computer rather than re-using the account from the first computer.

You need to go to the first computer, save the account as a file which you
can then use on the second computer.

Does this make sense?

Hello,

I had saved the account from the Preferences dialog but maybe that isn't the
same. I will try from the File menu.

Hello,

I saved the account file from the File menu (on my desktop system) and used
that when I installed Groove 2007 on my laptop. I used the same activation
(product/subscription) code on my laptop that I used on my desktop. The
activation window tells me that the product code has already been used the
maximum number of time. Which is evidently once since it has only been used
on my desktop system.

In addition there seems to be no way to resolve this as there is no phone
number to call.

This is not a good state of affairs.

Hi Michael -

I'm a bit hampered by not having the subscription copy of Groove here.

The help says to close the account configuration wizard and then
double-click on the file you copied across. This has worked for me in the
past with the full retail copy of Groove 2007.

If you need to enter a code, then this isn't working - close Groove then
double click the file so that Groove loads it as the first thing it does.

Please let me know how you get on - I've been recommending the subscription
version to folks not aware of any limitations.

Mark,

When I launch Groove 2007 on my laptop it asks me to perform Activation
because "it is limited to the subscription period". When I try to activate it
tells me that the limit of activations has been reached.

I must note that I am using a "complimentary 1-year subscription". We (my
company) paid for yearly support with Groove 3.1. I suspect that these
"complimentary" licenses we received were the result of that yearly
maintainance fee.

Even though it asks me to activate each time the program is launched I can
Cancel the process. The program seems to be fully operable. Other than
being annoying it is functional. However I do not know how long that will
last.

Thanks,
Michael McCarrick
