Groove 2007 problems after upgrade from 3.1.

T

Tony Kennedy

I've just gone through the very painful process of upgrading to Groove 2007 from version 3.1. A whole day lost trying to make it work again when it was fine before.

But it is still not working correctly. Some of my contacts are showing as offline (the two I use the most). I've gone through the "delete the contact"/"send a message"/"add the contact" process as suggested in the knowledgebase but no success.

I can even send messages to the ones who appear offline, but when they reply I do not receive them. They also see any updates I make to workspaces, but again, I cannot see any.

I've tried grooveclean, working offline/online, rebooting etc.

Any ideas?

Tony.

Hi Tony,

When you upgraded from 3.1 to 2007, did you use this process:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932311

If not, what was the exact method that you used to upgrade?

Also, go into Options > Preferences > Account and in the window listing your
computers, remove any computers that you are no longer using groove on. The
computer that is in bold will be the computer you are currently on.

If only that process had worked.

I had all my Groove 3.1 files on a different drive from default (just makes
things easier for me to backup). When 2007 did not pick anything up, I
manually copied all the filestore etc to the correct locations that 2007
wanted to use. Once I had done this, 2007 started fine and everything seemed
to be there.

I can see all of my US based colleagues ok and send/receive messages with
them. But the two UK colleages don't appear online, and I cannot get any
comms from them. All three of us have deleted each others profiles, and added
them from the .vgd files we exported from groove. Still no joy.

So not a standard upgrade as 2007 just didn't work correctly for me.

Tony.
