Groove file sharing and x64

I'm just installing a shiny new x64 workstation and was gobsmacked to
discover that Groove filesharing doesn't work on x64. To me, that is like
Outlook saying it doesn't support email. Does anyone know the reasons for
this and whether there is a planned update?

I am not quite sure what the reasoning is behind this (lack of) feature.
There was a discussion about it in a public Groove Developer space. Pick up
an invitation to that space from the information below.
